Our presentation this month: The Canon HDV Workflow, presented by Jonathan VanBallenberghe

Jonathan VanBallenberghe is an editor and videographer
who’s found two strange niche markets in the production
world: promotional DVDs for magicians and training videos
for a branch of the US Special Forces. These both (partially)
are funding two documentaries he’s currently working on.
IN THE COMPANY OF MOOSE focuses on a wildlife biologist
in Alaska who’s spent the last thirty years observing moose.
PSYCHO GURU is about a very effective, but incredibly
psychotic motivational speaker.

Jonathan’s presentation will cover his HDV workflow for
IN THE COMPANY OF MOOSE, touching upon such things
as frame-rate conversions, MAGIC BULLET filters, archival
footage sequences, and anxiety-ridden conclusions that HDV
is a tricky format for projects intended for television broadcast.
In addition, he’ll share some of his editing techniques that have
helped him use footage that at first seemed utterly unusable.

WHEN: December 15th, 2008 (Third Monday of the month) (more…)
